Our Core Values

THE PEOPLE OF INNISWOOD: DEVOTED FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST EXPRESSING THE LOVE OF GOD THROUGH VIBRANT WORSHIP, DYNAMIC TEACHING, AND JOYFUL SERVICE.

THE CORE VALUES OF INNISWOOD (foundational building blocks for our ministry together)

TRUTH – Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

INTEGRITY – Above all my brothers, do no swear – not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your ‘Yes’ be yes, and your 'No,’ be no, or you will be condemned. (James 5:12)

LOVE – We love because he first loved us. (1John 4:9)

PRAYER – Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

CELEBRATION – Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)

WORSHIP – Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. (Romans 12:1)

OUTREACH – We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. (2Corinthians 5:20)

CONTEMPORARY RELEVANCE – I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. (1 Corinthians 9:22)

PERSONAL GROWTH – So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6-7)

FELLOWSHIP – Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)

SERVICE – And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)

WHOLENESS – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

A VISION FOR INNISWOOD

We strive to be a community that expresses the greatness of God and responds to His overwhelming love and goodness in worship, praise and obedience. There will be music, prayer and time to share what God is doing. We will read the Bible and be taught how to live the truth that we hear. We will reflect on God’s mercy and share in the Lord’s Supper. And because we know that He is personal and loving, we strive to be a community that both talks and listens to our heavenly Father. So we will be a place of prayer. We will pray with each other and for each other. Because we believe that God cares about our whole life (not just the ‘church’ part), we will encourage each other to talk to God about everything, all the time, everywhere.

We strive to be a community where individuals feel like they belong by being a safe place where you can be yourself without the fear of judgment, where you are accepted, cared for and loved. When you are with us, you will see that, we strive to be a community of celebration, where there is laughter and joy, where friends are made and where we have fun! Even as we celebrate together, we strive to be a community that is balanced and whole. We will not be afraid of the pain and tears that are as much a part of life as celebration. We will be a place where we can learn to let God be the Lord of our whole life – spiritual, physical, emotional and social – in learning how God gives us the health and balance that we crave. We recognize that we are all different, that our lives are complex and our society is stressful. Because we all need a place that is refreshing and real, we strive to be a community that is relevant and authentic. Therefore, we will act with integrity and openness. We will not be afraid to change the way we do things, while we carefully guard the truth of scripture that does not change. We will seek to do all things with excellence.

We strive to be a community that never stops learning and growing, a church that’s not afraid of questions. We will provide opportunities for people of all ages to be taught from God’s Word (the Bible), to ask questions, to be challenged and to learn from the experiences of others. God calls us to act on the love and mercy He has given. We strive to be a community that gives opportunity to use our gifts and talents. We will encourage each other to be involved in whatever way God calls us as believers. As we grow in our faith and understanding of how God wants us to live, we want to act on the things for which God gives us passion and to be creative in how we serve Him. We will encourage believers to use time, talents and finances in serving our heavenly Father.

While we are celebrating, worshiping and serving, we strive to be a community that reaches out to the wider world. We will look to the needs of our neighbourhood, of Barrie and the surrounding area, and share the love of God in practical and creative ways. We believe that God calls us to be a positive influence in our world, so we will look beyond ourselves to the global community and obey God in spreading his Good News.

Come, share with us and be a part of what God is doing to keep the fire burning at Inniswood!!

Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:35-36)
